The United Nations predicts by 2020 there is going to be above 53 urban areas in the U.S. with more than a million residents per area. Higher than the 2010 (41) and 1950 (12) predictions. The trend correlates humanities low supply of natural resources. Urban communities are moving toward a digital society. Where people work, sleep, and live tends to be where they spend most their time. With this in mind urban societies have moved toward tall apartment buildings to conserve space and resources. Smart buildings must be green, safe and productive. The new demands will drive exponentially growing complex buildings.
